Howell has written for All Music Guide, Toledo City Paper, The Guardian, Montage Arts and Humanities Journal, Toledo Area Parent News, Project: Atlantis zine and the Ann Arbor Family Press. He's also played in the Northwest Ohio groups Fuzgunn, Achilles Last Band, Death to the Pixies and the Tri-Lateral Commission.
